Yesterday I had the honor of attending the DelPozo Spring/Summer 2013 show in which Josep Font made his debut as creative director after Jesus del Pozo’s death. Since the moment the news that the catalan designer had been chosen to suceed him at the Jesús del Pozo house (now named DelPozo) were confirmed, we knew that he wouldn’t disappoint us. And he didn’t, even though the expectations were incredibly high. Yesterday’s was, with no doubt, one of the best fashion shows I’ve ever been to, and the collection was amazing. Talent is something complex to explain, but we could see it in every stitch, it was something evident. Not everyone can mix three types of prints, overlay volumes and combine seven different textures. Font can, and he makes it look natural and easy (which is something really difficult).
The event took place in the Parques del Capricho in Madrid, in a stage put up for the occasion in front of the Palace of the Dukes of Osuna. The flowers and plants were arranged by Rent a Garden. The climbing plants, the golden chairs, the nature (it was windy and it rained tiny flowers on us), and the performance of The Chinese Birdwatchers made everything perfect.
It’s fantastic that now we know that every season we’ll see a great collection designed by a genius.
In the front row in front of me were some of the editors in chief of the biggest fashion magazines in Spain. Wow!
