Online sales are getting more and more important every day. We all know that. Online stores are a must for every label, and being original in that aspect is essential too. An online store must be simple, clean, easy to navigate and products shouldn’t be hidden in endless categories that disappear when you hit the “back” button.
I’ve been noticing during the past weeks that labels are developing new and fresh ways to display their products, organize them and sort them into categories. Colour palettes, collages, special items, features, shop from the runway, buy the pieces directly from the lookbook… Have a look at some of my favourite new ideas seen at online stores:
The Equipment e-shop is very simple but elegant, and there is a colour bar above the products so you can choose the exact tone you’re looking for. Chances are they may have it! :)
WOW! Amazing, huh? Extreme colour organization! The effect is really cool and very useful. The gift section is also organized by colours, and they’ve added animated gifs that make it more fun. A great idea that you can check here.
Zara has recently adopted the colour palette too.
People! is one of the best ideas Zara has ever had. People from all around the world submit their pictures wearing a minimum of 2 pieces by Zara, and if their pic is selected, they give you €300 and your pic is shown at the website. This is a great idea because you can get inspiration on how to style the same piece in lots of different ways, and buy that piece directly from the photo. Plus, the photos they choose are always impeccable and really beautiful.
These cute and organized arrangements are really good too. I love them!
I like Massimo Dutti’s store because as they don’t have too many products like in Zara or Asos, the items can be shown bigger and you get to see the quality of the fabrics and materials. It looks more elegant and clear.
Oysho is one is one of my favourites because of the pastel colours they use, very adequate to the label’s spirit. The fonts and background of the website are pale and relaxing, just like pajamas should be.

The shoppable magazine. You can buy the pieces photographed in the editorials.
What I like about Asos (apart from their amazing selection of clothes) is that they weekly launch special collections with a theme following a trend: winter coats, party dresses, studs… It is quite useful if you don’t have a clear idea and you’re looking for inspiration.
BIMBA & LOLA
The Louis Vuitton website is amazing, seriously. There are lots of interesting videos of the maison, travel guides, interviews, details about Louis Vuitton’s history… And also an online store. You can select the collection you want, the kind of handbag you’re looking for, the colour, the materials… The system is really nice, and the results are displayed in a very original way:
