Karl Lagerfeld‘s life must be one of the busiest ones. I have always wondered how he manages to do so many things, and asked myself how many collections he designs every year, as he designs for Chanel, Fendi, and his own label. So I made the calculation. And it is astounding.
Before continuing with the adds, let me say that I’m aware that he has a huge team and he probably doesn’t take care of every little detail. But still…

TOTAL: 17 COLLECTIONS
If every collection has around 20 looks, that would be 340 looks. As every look has 3-4 pieces (accesories, shoes, outerwear, sunglasses, handbags…), it means he has to design at least 1020 pieces. That is almost 3 pieces each day (including weekends and holidays, but I’m sure Karl doesn’t know those words).
Also, he photographs all the campaigns, which means that he shoots more than 10 campaigns every year (the handbag campaigns, the ready to wear ads, the eyewear shots, the pre-fall ads…)
And he publishes books, organizes exhibitions, photographs editorials, guest-edits magazine issues… Amazing!
According to this Harper’s Bazaar interview, he always sleeps seven hours, sketches until 5PM at his home, then goes to the atelier.
I wonder the same thing about Marc Jacobs (he designs for Louis Vuitton, his own label, and Marc by Marc Jacobs), but I think Karl is more prolific.
Creo que el titular debería ser “¿Cuántas colecciones DIRIGE Karl Lagerfeld al año? Lo de diseñar, desarrollar, modelar, etc como que ya sabemos que no.
No es quitar méritos, es ser realistas.

me agobio solo con leer todo su trabajo. Hay gente que trabaja para vivir y otros que viven para trabajar, este es el caso de Karl Lagerfeld. Y por ello nos asombra con increíbles colecciones, libros, campañas..es un crack!

no wonder his collections are so terrible lately. but i’m sure he doesn’t come up with all the designs. it’s impossible!
Flipante… aunque sólo sea dirigiendo… la verdad es que es para quitarse el sombrero ante este máquina. Y a nosotros, simples mortales, que nos parece que tenemos días ajetreados!!!. No volveré a quejarme, no volveré a quejarme…

Increíble. Además de su ingenio y creatividad ha de tener un equipo bestial. Pero el talento y su sello siempre están presentes… ya podría contarnos las claves de su organización!
Si no recuerdo mal, además tiene la de K by Karl Lagerfeld!!! Y sus colecciones nunca son 20 prendas, las de chanel suelen rondar las 55 salidas, así que aun más trabajo…ALUCINO!!!
