To celebrate ItFashion‘s relaunch and new design, Estel Vilaseca and her collaborators have organized a virtual exhibition throughout their favourite blogs. The art pieces (unique and exclusive illustrations) are displayed on each of those blogs, and today I’m showing you the one that has been chosen for me. It’s an illustration by Marcela Gutiérrez, titled “To know it is to love it”, and I couldn’t love it more. I’m really happy to be part of the exhibition, as ItFashion is one of my favourite blogs/webs, they are always ahead of everything! And this is such an original and new idea.

It’s such a honour to exhibit Marcela’s amazing work. She’s collaborated with Harper’s Bazaar España, Vogue España, Metal Magazine, Anthropology, Swarovski, Oysho and Carolina Herrera. She made the astounding wallpapers for the Prada stores in New York and Los Angeles, and she worked at Alexander McQueen’s studio designing prints. And she’s only 34 years old! She was born in Florida and raised in Guatemala. She studied Architecture in Mexico and graphic illustration at Central Saint Martins.
The eyes of the faces she portrays are one of the essential aspects of her work. Stare at the girls’ eyes for a few seconds and you’ll see, they have a special spark. She mainly uses watercolors, ink and gouache. I’m adding her to my list of favourite illustrators, that includes René Gruau, David Downton, and many others. Stop by Vogue’s article about Marcela’s studio to know more about her.
