Photographing Olivia Palermo (at the Prix Marie Claire)

I attended the dinner/party of the Prix Marie Claire on Thursday, an awards celebration that always reunites the most amazing winners. It took place at the French Ambassador Residence, a beautiful place. This year the winners included Karl Lagerfeld, Isabeli Fontana, Mark Vanderloo, Saskia de Brauw, Olivia Palermo… All of them were there, accompanied by endless celebrities, models, journalists, designers… It was a great party.

I had the chance to photograph Olivia Palermo, that looked even prettier in person, and very nice, she talked to everyone. She was accompanied by her PR, a very nice girl. Isabeli Fontana looked great too, she was smiling all the time, she seemed very happy. I photographed Karl too, with the help of a friend that managed to get into the crowd around him. Here you have the photos of the party, with some of the details that I liked of the guests outfits.

Karl Lagerfeld, guest editor for Marie Claire Spain

Karl Lagerfeld has been the guest editor for this month’s issue of Marie Claire Spain, that celebrates its 25th Anniversary. Happy Birthday Marie Claire! :)

The issue is filled with lots of articles about Karl, a very interesting interview, and a great selection of his work as photographer. Diane Kruger, Claudia Schiffer, Vanessa Paradis… His usual muses. They tell the anecdote of how he began to photograph the collections and ad campaigns. Twenty years ago, he saw the photos of his collection on a magazine and he thought they were awful (he probably said it aloud), and his friend Eric Pfrunder, artistic director of Chanel, encouraged him to take the photos himself. That’s how Karl Lagerfeld began his career as photographer.

The content revolves around Gabrielle Chanel style, black and white, and Karl’s personality. Here you have some of my favourite photos from the magazine, all taken by Karl except for the editorials. The issue is already on the newsstands.

PS: The issue comes with a very nice tote bag!
