Discovering Muïc’s jewellery

I had the chance to visit the Muïc store (10 Ayala, Madrid) a few days ago with Ana Pérez, founder of the label, and Paula, to see the new collections of jewellery. The selection is composed by really special pieces. Extravagant, llamative, original, excessive, XXL… But chosen with good taste.

Ana chooses the creations she loves most every season, from international designers such as Shourouk (I wrote about their handbags at Vogue), Anton Heunis (Spain), Iosselliani (Rome), Bcoqui (Mexico), Mawi (London) and Dannijo (New York). They all have in common the quality of mixing all sorts of colors and materials (semi precious stones, Swarovski glass, gold, pink gold, silver, onyx, quartz…) They are the kind of accessories that you can wear with the most simple outfit and add the perfect touch.

She told me about the selection process of the pieces, a search that must be really entertaining. She discovers most of the pieces at fairs, when she meets new designers. She chooses the pieces that fit Muïc’s style, and sometimes (many times, she commented laughing), she asks the designers to make slight alterations (a different colour, a shorter necklace, another type of stone…) I asked her what differentiates a good piece of jewellery from another one that is average quality, and she immediately said that the clasps are the part in which you can identify if it’s a good piece. As the pieces are really valuable, you need a good clasp so it won’t open itself. According to Ana, Mawi’s are the best ones, and she’s right. They are embellished like they were the most important part of the piece. Bexrox’s are really good too, they are made of powerful magnets that also allow you to join several bracelets and create a necklace.

I loved the store, it’s decorated in a very special way and with all sorts of details. It’s like a little room from a palace. I liked the idea of presenting the necklaces in glass bells with paper flowers, it reminded me of the Beauty and the Beast. And the detail of blending the wire to look like a bees honeycomb is awesome.

PS: There are mid rings at Muïc!

At the new DelPozo store

Delpozo just inaugurated their new flagship store and it is really lovely. It’s in 19 Lagasca, in a very luminous space and a small terrace at the back. The decoration matches the clothes in a perfect way, everything in beige with little touches of gold. Josep Font designed the store himself, using original furniture from the 70′s and 80′s. For that reason, every boutique will have its own unique furniture. The most spectacular dresses are kept in glass vitrines made by order with old glass and gold corners. Just like an art masterpiece.

Here you have the photos I took at the store. If you want to see the collection in full bloom, (Spring/Summer 2013), check the fashion show post.
